Knitting With Beads with Gunilla Saturday 10-11:30am
Learn to knit with beads! Whether you want to make Gunilla's new luscious beaded cashmere beanie, or a cute little coin purse, this is the class for you! Please know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off, and Gunilla will teach you the rest. Knitting Arts carries a variety of basic beads and we will provide beading needles for the class.
Materials: Please bring or be prepared to purchase a sport weight, 4ply, or DK weight yarn, beads, and needles of an appropriate size.
Pre-Requisites: Must be able to cast-on, knit, purl and bind-off.

Tunisian Crochet - Basics with Gunilla Saturday 12-1:30pm
Learn how to use this traditional technique in very untraditional ways. Easily described as a cross between knitting and crochet, Tunisian crochet creates fabric that looks woven rather than knit or crochet. Modern yarns add pizzazz to your project, and the large hooks let you use less yarn than standard crochet. We will cover the basic stitches used in Tunisian crochet and view some FAST and EASY projects.
Materials: Please bring or be prepared to purchase 3 different colors of bulky weight yarn, and an afghan/tunisian hook of an appropriate size.
Pre-requisites: You do not need to know how to crochet! Knowing how to make a chain is helpful, but not mandatory.

Tunisian Crochet - Next Steps with Gunilla Saturday 2-3:30pm
NEW! We all know that Tunisian Crochet can make pillows, flowy ponchos/shawls and other fabulous things, but what we may not know is that there are really nifty pattern stitches! And you can do shaping! Bobbles? No problem!
This workshop covers stitches like spike stitch, pebble stitch, and how to increase or decrease in Tunisian crochet. To demonstrate, we'll have an item made on a smaller (but not shorter) hook, excellent for accessories, etc. A small project, like a clutch purse or an eyeglass case, doesn't take a lot of yarn and offers an excellent opportunity to play with the technique. So grab that old afghan hook your grandma had, or purchase one from the shop, and join us.
Materials: Please bring or be prepared to purchase 3 different colors of bulky weight yarn, and an afghan/tunisian hook of an appropriate size.
Pre-requisites: Tunisian Crochet - Basics workshop (or a basic understanding of Tunisian Crochet).

Intarsia Basics with Marie Saturday 4-5:30pm

Learn the basics of intarsia, the technique of using multiple yarns without stranding to create color designs such as flowers, animals, or geometric shapes. You will also learn how to follow a knitting chart for an intarsia pattern.
Materials: Please bring or be prepared to purchase at least 3 colors of yarn in the same weight, plus corresponding needles.
Pre-requisites: Must be able to cast-on, bind-off, knit and purl.

Pattern Reading De-Mystified with Gunilla Sunday 10-11:30am
NEW! Have you ever picked up a knitting pattern, even for a so-called simple garment, and tried to decipher "dec 1 st each end on next and foll 4th rows 10 times", or "*k1, ssk, inc next st* repeat to end"? Does this read like Greek to you? Then you're not alone! Let Gunilla, our Knitting Doctor, step you through reading a pattern, and interpreting the language of knitting, and you will never be intimidated by a pattern again! This workshop is a must for newer knitters who wish to advance their skills to the next level.
No experience or materials required.

Hollywood Starlet Purse (crochet) with Jennifer Sunday 12-1:30pm
NEW! A lush silk handbag with a vintage look! This bag is textured with beautiful bobbles, subtle hues of color, and the beauty of silk. Jennifer will step you through her original design, including how to attach your finished piece to the exquisite rhinestone embellished purse frame.
Materials: 2 hanks Colinette Tao (128 yds per hank, sport weight, 100% silk); US size E (3.5mm) crochet hook; purse frame 3" x 5.25"; Craft Kitten pattern.
Pre-Requisites: Must know basic crochet stitches: chain, single crochet, double crochet.

Beautiful Throws with Jan Sunday 2-3:30pm

NEW! Throws, or afghans, are actually quite simple in design if you let the yarn colors and textures do the work. Jan will step you through how to choose yarns, including mixing colors and textures. She just finished a beautiful throw in hues of purple, periwinkle, and lavender with hand-dyed silk ribbons woven through an eyelet stitch - a true work of art (and very easy to do!) You can get started on your actual project, or work up a sampler with your chosen yarns to play with yarns combinations and needle sizes.
Materials: Please bring a variety of needles (size US 11 to 15) depending on yarns selected; one or more yarns to combine into your throw, dk to worsted or heavy worsted/bulky weight.
Pre-Requisites: Must know how to cast-on, knit and bind-off.

Cabled Gauntlets (fingerless gloves) with Jan Sunday 4-5:30pm
NEW! Alchemy's elegant gauntlet weds practicality with high fashion. This stunning design is written for two lengths - to reach the wrist (as a handwarmer), or the elbow (the full gauntlet). The clever cabling requires no calbe needle - a carefully crafted slipped stitch allows for the creation of the spectacular motif. In this workshop Jan will step you through the stitch pattern, knitting in the round, and you're on your way. This accessory is sure to be the one you will knit and wear again and again. Great for holiday gift giving!
Materials: 1 skein (125 yds) for wrist-length, or 2 skeins (250 yds) for elbow-length, Alchemy Yarns Sanctuary, or yarn that knits at 6 sts = 1" on US size 6 needles; US 6 needles - double-pointed needles or 12" circulars.
Pre-Requisites: Must be able to cast-on, knit, purl, and bind-off.
