THIS IS THE VERY LAST ROASTED COFFEE BEAN MEETUP!
If you have thought "I'll just go to the next one" in the past, THIS IS IT - YOUR LAST CHANCE! Come and join us! This is the last meetup I'm hosting - after this, I am stepping down as assistant organizer.

All crocheters and knitters of all experience levels are welcome to join! We're a welcoming and very casual group, so don't be intimidated to join us

We meet from 6-9 p.m. and you're welcome to come whenever you can and stay for as long as you like.

Please bring the project(s) you're working on and any projects you've recently completed for show and tell. We love to ooh and aah at everyone's projects!

Since Roasted Coffee Bean is nice enough to host our group, please buy a drink or a goodie to enjoy throughout the meetup.

If you have any questions/comments/concerns about this meetup (time, location, etc.) please feel free to ask in the "Talk about this Meetup" or e-mail the group at crochet-53@meetup.com.

I hope you can make it!

The place is at 87 and Taylor. Exit Taylor head away from downtown, go 2 lights and at Coleman make a left. The shopping center is right at the corner. Panera is all the way at the far end of the shopping center.

There is also a Michael's there if anyone needs something!

This is going to be the 2nd part of learning to knit/crochet a beanie in the round. If you can make it the day before on Friday the 30th, awesome, we'll just continue the lesson this day. If you can only make it this day, I'll give a quick tutorial this day too.

**************************************************************************

Hi everyone! It sounds like there's a lot of interest in learning to knit and/or crochet a beanie in the round. If you're interested, I will be teaching how to do this on Saturday the 31st! The crochet beanie will be done top down and the knit beanie will be done bottom up.

What you will need to bring:
Please bring some yarn of your choice (I think worsted weight is best). If possible, bring a lighter colored yarn so that it's easier to see your stitches. Don't forget some corresponding needles and hooks. If you're using worsted weight yarn, please bring a G, H, or I hook and/or size US 7-9 (4.5-5.5 mm) knitting needles. Depending on the size hat you want to make, you will need double pointed needles in these sizes (US 7-9) and size 16" circular needles as well. The circulars are optional, but if you are making an adult sized hat, they will come in very handy. Hats for babies will be done on double pointed needles only. I know some people may want to learn how to knit in the round on two circulars or on one really long circular needle, but alas, I haven't learned that technique myself so I will not be able to teach it this day. Maybe sometime in the future!

I'm free any time this day, so please let me know when you RSVP what time of day you would prefer. Also, let me know what area(s) you would like to meet. I'm in Cupertino, but would be willing to go from Mt. View to Campbell and to Willow Glen and anywhere in between.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to e-mail the group, ask in the "Talk About This Meetup" section, or e-mail me directly (caroline88888888@yahoo.com).

Hope to see you on Saturday!

I'm going to be meeting people at Green Planet Yarn to purchase materials to knit a beanie. I suggest getting your double pointed needles at Joann's/Michael's, but it's a great idea to buy your circular needles at Green Planet Yarn because the ones you want will not be at Michael's. If you have yarn in your stash, please bring it. If you would like to buy some new yarn at Green Planet Yarn, feel free to do that too. Sometimes new yarn is the motivation you need to complete a project =)

After we finish shopping at GPY, we can either decide as a group to stay and knit/crochet at Green Planet Yarn for their open knit night if there's space for all of us or we can walk down to Sonoma Chicken Coop, a coffee shop or to Aqui's. I think people may want to venture elsewhere so we can grab a bite to eat since GPY doesn't allow food.

If some people can't meet at 4:30 at GPY, but want to meet up with us later, please let me know in your RSVP and I will send you my cell phone number and you can call me when you're on your way and I will let you know where we plan to be!

Sorry everyone, I've been so busy I completely forgot to post this for the 3rd Thursday of the month! Since it's such late notice and people will most likely not be able to go on the 3rd Thursday, I'm moving this meetup to the 4th Thursday of the month, January 22nd. Assuming I keep my head on straight, we will resume going to Roasted Coffee Bean the 3rd Thursday of the month in February.

Hello Hookers!

Opps--the last email was just confusing and wrong--the website did it.

Looks like Thurs next week! To the Wednesday voters: sorry, hope to see you soon.

We are going to be having a YARN SWAP! Let's start off the new year with some new yarn, and a clean some space out of our stashes to put some more, lol.

Rules are bring as much or as little yarn you want to bring. You can also bring patterns or books. After everyone arrives we will pick numbers. When it your turn take as much or as little yarn as you want to take! We all have fun then go home, lol

This week Jen has been nice enough to lend us her house! So please be on your best behavior, and maybe she will have us back. The website isn't letting me enter he address so when you RSVP I will email it to you

Let's start 2009 off with a bang! I'd love to host a pot luck at my house either on January 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Please let me know which day you prefer and what you'd like to bring. I will supply the napkins, utensils, plates and drinks. Remember, your SOs, children and pups are always welcome at my house =)

Let's chit chat, see what projects everyone wants to work on in 2009 and hear great stories about your holiday parties!

Hope to see you all soon!

**UPDATE 12/6/08**
Location changed to Harry's Hofbrau for our Holiday Party!

Bring a simple gift ($5-10) for a gift exchange. The gift needs to be yarn addict themed. Perhaps some interesting notions, a small book, fun pattern, small project bag ...anything for a yarn/knitting/crochet enthusiast

The gift exchange is very fun!! I do it game style with each present getting two trades. SO bring your strategy game!!!

Due to the location change, please update your RSVP if you are able to come!

Hope to see you there!

Caroline

Also, for the people that want to get their Roasted Coffee Bean fix for the month, I'm going to open up Saturday the 13th as a meetup at Roasted Coffee Bean.

Shawn wants everyone to join him to see the remake of his Favorite movie and dinner!!

Meet at Oakridge PF Changs at 6pm
for a 820pm movie

Bring your lite hooks, lite needles, or earlites, and come watch a movie!!!!

I told Shawn to pick the Theater and time and I would post it, but he still hasn't told me. I think He has it narrowed down to Century or OAKridge, and Chili's or Harry's. So keep your eye's posted for when he decides!!

From Shawn:

go see the remake of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL
The original is one of my favorite movies of all time. I am sure the remake will not be as good…but hey, the special effects are great (go view the trailers.)

So we want you to join us and to invite any others. I know, not everyone has Fridays free and not everyone likes Sci Fi movies, etc etc etc. Who cares?!! They will get invited anyway!

Call your friends now…mail and female, young and old, yarn lusters or not, co-workers or other, invite anyone that has money for dinner and a movie so that we do not need to pay for them! ;-) You can even invite your significant others and spouses. Aren’t we nice?
